I am way to bombed to write anything of real substance tonight, but I will say that my Sukkah is gorgeous thanks to my wonderful husband and the meals should Gd willing be fit for royalty. Yonah has officially learned to shake his head “No” at me, which he finds endlessly amusing (for those of you on Facebook, I have posted videotaped evidence). He is getting wilder by the day; we’ve officially changed his nickname from “Bug” to “Bubba”. We had quite an adventure this evening after I changed his dirty diaper and realized that there were no more left in the house. Frantic, I called Shuie to pick some up on his way home. In the meantime, Yonah proceeded to pee all over the apartment while I chased after him with a dishtowel. I couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of the whole thing, and finally threw the little man into the bath until the coast was clear.
I’ve decided to do some research into revamping my learning. I’m finding that just learning text stuff in the morning is very dry. I may need to switch things up by attending classes that focus more on philosophy and spirituality a couple of afternoons a week. It may mean juggling childcare and even finding another school, but I’m only here for a year. I gotta do what I gotta do to get the most out of it.
I’ve been missing my friends in the States, but I am pleased to say that I think I may have found a good one here in Rachel, my playgroup buddy. We chat on the phone every day and we both agree that it’s nice to be in each other’s lives. “It took me two and a half years to find you,” she laughed. “And it only took you a week!” Having a friend like that makes a world of difference, especially when you don’t know many people, and even more so when you’re a Mom with young kids. Too much time with too little adult interaction and things can get scary. Here’s hoping that Yonah and Shmuel Yaakov can get along just as swimmingly.
